Each winter, Lake of the Woods transforms into a magical, snow-covered playground for one of our most beloved traditions: the annual Kite Festival, typically held on the second weekend in February. Set against a stunning backdrop of a frozen lake and mountain views, this family-friendly event invites guests of all ages to experience the joy of colorful kites dancing across crisp winter skies.

Bundle up and step out onto the ice to fly your own kite or simply take in the vibrant display overhead. Warm up with complimentary hot chocolate, gather around crackling bonfires, and enjoy a full day of classic winter fun. Kids and adults alike can join in snowman-building competitions, race down the sled hills, and make lasting memories in the fresh mountain air.

Whether you're a local or visiting for the weekend, the Kite Festival at Lake of the Woods is the perfect way to celebrate winter: simple, scenic, and full of joy.
